Aggie Weekly - June 15th

Aggie Weekly
Good Afternoon Students, Parents, and Community Members:
Our freshman students went through their last exploratory rotation this week, and will be notified this afternoon of their major.  On Monday, all students will report to assembly, then the freshman students will stay behind and go to their new vo-ag placements for the remainder of the year.  Next week is our last full week of school with finals on Wednesday and Thursday (see details below). We want to wish everyone the best of luck on their finals. Make sure to get a good night’s sleep, and eat a good breakfast before your finals.  GOOD LUCK!
This will be our last edition of Aggie Weekly for the 2017-2018 school year.  If there is any important information, we may send a special edition. Have a great summer and be safe! We look forward to hearing about your adventures in September!

Bristol Aggie Community Survey- Developed by Superintendent Sands
Dear Bristol Aggie Community
As we embark on our 5 year Strategic Plan, it is critical that we hear from not only those of us who work here everyday, but from our entire educational community. That includes you and most importantly your children.  Would you take a few minutes to answer this short survey? Your input will be valuable to our efforts.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Very Sincerely,

Adele G. Sands

2018 Bell Schedule: This year we worked with our staff to provide more equity throughout our schedule.  There will no longer be anymore 25 minute period classes (health and sophomore history).  The bell schedule shifted slightly to accommodate a more balanced schedule that has 47-48 minute classes.  Periods 1 & 2 (A/B week) were a little longer to accommodate announcements and assembly. Additionally, more time was given to the Vo-Ags in junior and senior years!

Welcome Mr. Higgins:
We would like to welcome Mr. Higgins to the Administrative Team as the new Assistant Principal.  Mr. Higgins has been a math teacher at Bristol Aggie for the past four years and has been involved in several after school activities.  He will definitely be missed in the classroom, but we look forward to his leadership on the admin team! Welcome aboard!

ATTENTION PARENTS- SEE INFORMATION FROM MA ATTORNEY GENERAL
  • Please note that we have updated our handbook for next year based on e-cigarettes and other vaping products.

In the Classroom:
HMFH:
On Friday, architects from HMFH Architects met with a group of students to help plan a new student common for North Campus.  The Student Commons will include a new cafeteria and a new media/library center and maybe more. They discussed with students how the architects think about designing places for students and teachers and about the criteria that have been developed to date for the new student common. Students worked in small groups and created ideas for the student common and to develop your own design for a student common.  See photos below from today’s activity.
Ocean Bowl Field Trip
On Saturday, Ocean Bowl members went to Battleship Cove to learn about naval history and go for a spin on the carousel.

New England Dairy: 2018 Graduate Olivia Larrivee spoke at Silvia Elementary School.  Nice job Olive! Click here to view the Tweet.
Landscape:
On Monday and Tuesday, several Sophomores and Juniors worked on improvements to two fields at the Berkley Athletic Association ballfields; home of our awesome softball team.

Extends Announcement:
The final day for Extends will be Monday, June 18th.  Please plan accordingly.
Join us for a viewing of the documentary “Forgotten Farms” at Bristol Aggie on Saturday, June 16th.  Meet local dairy farmers, taste local ice cream, milk and our own Cabot cheese. The documentary follows new england dairy farms and helps to provide a glimpse into the past and a vision for a future regional food system.
