In the Classroom-SLOWTOOLS

Over the last few years, Bristol Aggie students (predominantly Agricultural Mechanics students) have been working with the Slow Tools organization.  Their mission is:

Our missions include the need to provide nutritious food and soil, clean water and energy, environmental and human health, and cultural democracy and security.  We believe these goals are best achieved locally, changing as needed to adapt to people's basic local needs.

We began 10 years ago as a movement among farmers, designers, and engineers to identify, design and make tools for the small farm community.

Farming and food are the essential source of renewable human energy and health. This mission is a fundamental cornerstone of our efforts.

Their goals are the following:

  1. To promote and fund the sustainable and local manufacture of tools.

  2. To promote design engineering education in villages and neighborhoods.

  3. To enable sustainable and regenerative practices through design and education.

  4. To help achieve environmental and financial sustainability through innovation.

  5. To create a global cooperative for the sharing of tool designs.

We have been fortunate with the opportunity to participate in some of this incredible work that will help local farmers remain sustainable. Click here for their website and see more photos from our students.

Weekly mental health tips from calm.com

  • Do a chore you normally dislike, doing it with extra love and attention.

  • Write down three qualities that you like about yourself.

  • Decide how long you want to spend online today and then set a timer. Stop when your timer goes off. Remember that you are in charge of your free time.

  • Ask yourself, “what can I do less of today?”

  • Forgive yourself for a mistake you made. Mistakes are a natural part of life. It’s what we do next that matters most.

Yearbooks are on sale at Balfour.com! The cost is $40, but personalizations and accessories may be purchased for an additional cost.

Families and friends of seniors may also purchase Ad Space to leave a special message for their student. You have the option of a ¼ page ad at $20, a ⅛ page ad at $10, or a shout-out ad for $3. Senior Photos: Below is a copy of the email that was sent out to seniors earlier this year.

Hello Seniors!

It's time to start thinking about senior photos! All senior photos and baby pictures are due by November 24, 2021. That is the last day of school before Thanksgiving! Please email all photos to me at kreilly@bcahs.com. Only digital copies of photos will be accepted.

Some guidelines:

  1. All photos must be school appropriate and meet the standards laid out in the student handbook.

  2. Be as creative as you would like. It doesn't need to be a posed portrait taken by a professional photographer. You can send in a candid shot taken on your phone. You are welcome to include pets, cars, etc.

  3. Make sure that your photo is in portrait, not landscape, orientation. If you send me a photo in landscape, it will be cropped to fit in the portrait templates in the yearbook.

  4. Make sure to leave a little extra space around the edges of the photo so that it can be cropped if necessary.

If you have any questions or concerns about your photos, please let Ms. Reilly know as soon as possible.

Activities and Athletics

  • Girls Soccer: On Tuesday, the girls soccer team conducted a small ceremony before the game for senior appreciation day.

  • National Honors Society- Westport Fair Clean-Up

Students went to the Westport Fair to help with clean-up in the mornings. This gave students insight into the hard work that comes along with community events. Volunteerism is what keeps events like this going and having young adults join in will help ensure it continues for future generations. The Westport Fair Committee extends their sincere gratitude for the students' time, effort and positive attitude!

  • Cross Country: Tuesday was our last XC meet! After, we showed our appreciation for the senior athletes' hard work and dedication they have put forth over the years here at Bristol Aggie. Shoutout to our Flori girls for assembling such beautiful bouquets!!

SENIORS: Noel Martins, Sharon Erickson, Dillon Corvelo
