** B Week

Aggie Weekly- December 23rd

Good Afternoon Students, Parents, and Community Members:

This week’s HIGH 5 CLUB Student of Week- GABRIELLE SCHWENK

Letter from Superintendent Sands

Student Council Toy/Coin Drive: This year our goal was to raise $6,100.  Each year we raise money and our students go to Wal-Mart to purchase toys and gift cards for families.  We are excited and humbled by the generosity of our school community which not only reached our goal, but set a new record in our coin collection, raising $10,826.97. #BAPride #CultivatingExcellence

Sophomore Flori- Ms. Pereira's class at Westport Middle School recently visited with the Sophomore Floriculture program. Along with the floriculture students, the students from Ms. Pereira’s class learned how to design and create Holiday decor.  Students collaborated with one another to make these beautiful pieces as an extension of their Holidays around the World Unit.  Students also got to tour the large animal department and saw how students in the department spend their mornings taking care of the animals. Thank you to Mrs. Fornari and the students at BCAHS for your warm welcome and fun time!

Dual Enrollment Opportunities

Bristol Community College will be hosting several Perkins funded courses for vocational technical students in the surrounding communities. In order to be eligible to take a course you must meet the following criteria:

  • Must meet all course prerequisites per the course policies of Bristol Community College

  • Have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.0 or show potential for academic success

  • Maintain a GPA of at least 2.5 at Bristol to continue in dual enrollment

  • Submit a completed Bristol Dual Enrollment Application and/or an Underage Request  Form (only for students under 16) - this is provided by Ms. Costa or found linked

Taking a dual enrollment college course takes both personal responsibility and dedication as it is a college level course and will require time outside of your normal school day to complete required coursework. Each student interested should meet with their school counselor to determine if they meet the criteria and are on track to academically be successful within a college course alongside their Aggie workload.

The courses below are being offered for Spring 2022, are free (aside from book fees) and are on a first come first serve basis, so there is no guarantee of a spot. In addition, students must meet prerequisites of the course they wish to enroll in and may be required to also register for the CSS 101 course if this is the first time taking a dual enrollment course. **Paperwork will not be processed throughout the holiday break.** Applications will resume being processed when we return to school.  Deadline to apply for Spring courses is January 14th as courses will commence Jan. 24th.

ASVAB Testing

We will be hosting the ASVAB Test on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from approx. 8:15 a.m until 11:15 a.m.

The ASVAB is a timed multi-aptitude test, which is given at over 14,000 schools and Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) nationwide and is developed and maintained by the Department of Defense. The AFQT score determines whether you're qualified to enlist in the U.S. military.  The Military uses ASVAB scores to identify the occupations that best suit the applicant’s abilities. The ASVAB exam focuses on the following eight categories: Arithmetic Reasoning, Auto and Shop Information, Electronics Information, General Science, Mathematics Knowledge, Mechanical Comprehension, Paragraph Comprehension, and Word Knowledge. Students are provided with scores on each of these individual tests and three Career Exploration Score composites: Verbal Skills, Math Skills and Science and Technical Skills.

**In addition, this test could assist in helping students explore their interests, expand their  horizons and find the right path after high school, not just to enlist in the military.**

The test is completely free, approx. takes 3 hours and is offered priority to juniors and seniors but sophomores may sign up and take it if space permits.

If you would like to take the test please register here using your BA email address: ASVAB TEST SIGN UP

We are proud to share with you our senior’s plans for their next step in their college and career exploration.  Based on the knowledge and skills learned during their 4 years at BA, we are excited to publish acceptances into colleges, universities, military plans, and any career pathways each week.  Please let Ms. Dias or Ms. Costa know in Student Services, so we can update our list weekly.  Thank you for your dedication to excellence and drive to maintain Bristol Aggie Excellence. Those schools that are bolded and have an asterisk following them have been confirmed as schools that our seniors will be enrolling in Fall 2022.
