Aggie Weekly-December 9th

Good Afternoon Students, Parents, and Community Members:

This week’s HIGH 5 CLUB Senior of Week-JONATHAN DEPONTBRIAND

Holiday Toy Drive: This week we kicked off our annual Holiday Toy Drive. We are always so humbled by the generosity of our community. Last year we were able to raise over $11K that was used to purchase gifts for our community, and gift cards for Bristol Aggie families. See poster on how to donate. If you do not have a student and would like to donate, you can send us a check. ALL donations are welcome! Let's see if we can match last year's record donations. #BAPride

The Bristol Aggie Toy Drive has begun!

Our goal this year is to raise $10,000!

So far we have raised $XXX

We still have $XXX to meet our goal!

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, we are so thankful for all of your kindness, generosity and contributions. Remember that while coins are positive points & dollar bills are negative points, all donations are used to purchase toys for our communities!

In the Classroom

  • Environmental Engineering: In Ms. Canuel’s sophomore Environmental Engineering class, students are learning about the importance of streamflow and water quality. Pictured here, students are utilizing secchi disks and turbidity tubes to measure turbidity, or the clarity of the water, along the Taunton River.

Tips to Stay Healthy During The Winter Months :

  1. Hydration- You should aim to drink half your bodyweight in ounces of water. You can easily find out how much water your body needs by dividing your weight in half, and then dividing that number by 8. This will give you the number of 8 oz cups you should consume during a 24 hour period. If you find the taste of water boring try adding some mint leaves and frozen fruit or the juice from lemons and limes.

  2. Nutrition- Incorporation fruits, veggies, healthy fats, lean protein, fiber and minimal simple sugars in your diet. By doing so you will find an increased energy level to focus on school work and staying on task during the school day. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! If you find you are short on time in the morning, swing by the Cafe before class. Mr. Lee and the dietary staff provide a nutritional breakfast free of charge!

  3. Sleep- It is important to get adequate sleep so that your mind and body can rest and repair itself for the next day. Aim for at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night.

  4. Hygiene- I don't think I can ever say this enough- wash your hands with warm water and soap!

  5. Exercise- Physical activity is important for overall health and well being. Ideally your goal should be 30 to 60 minutes per day. Get outside and go for a walk before you sit down to work on homework, take your dog to the park, or  jog around the block if you like running. However, be sure to dress for the weather and make sure it is safe to exercise outdoors.
