Aggie Weekly
Good Afternoon Students, Parents, and Community Members:
This week we celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week!  We would like to THANK our PTO and our school community to show their appreciation to our dedicated staff.
Tonight is our Bristol Aggie Prom.  Prom ends at 10:00 pm, so please make sure you are at the Canoe Club if you are picking up your child on time.  Thank you!

Bristol Aggie Tree Climbing Jamboree: Arboriculture students at Bristol County Agricultural High School took part in the school’s annual Tree Climbing Jamboree to test their skills and see who would come out on top. The event took place on Friday, May 4, 2018.  Click here for the article in The Herald News

Bristol Aggie’s Emma Duarte works hard on - and off - the field- Click here for the article in the Taunton Gazette

By Steve Sanchez-Gazette Sports Editor

DIGHTON - Bristol-Aggie student athlete Emma Duarte epitomizes the words “hard work.”
The junior co-captain for the Chieftains’ softball team is the catalyst for the unbeaten 9-0 Aggie squad. Duarte recently slugged her first home run of the season against St. John Paul II. Last season, Duarte batted .458 with 29 stolen bases and 27 RBI.
Duarte, a three-year varsity player, works at least 12 hours a week — twice a week before school at 5:30 a.m. — in the barns at Bristol Aggie milking cows and feeding the animals (which include sheep, chickens, pigs). She keeps the barns clean, maintains the grounds, tends to the small animal center, which includes mice, reptiles, birds and rabbits.
She has a GPA of 4.1 and is member of National Honor Society, a member of the Vet Science Academic Team, a member of the student council and a Freshman Orientation leader.
Duarte is also a member of the Mass Dynamites Showcase softball team.
The Taunton Daily Gazette caught up with Duarte and asked her a few questions to get to know her better.

PTO Celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week: Everyday this week, we were reminded how thankful we are for our PTO.  Each morning, goodies were inserted in teacher’s mailboxes and on Wednesday, the PTO dedicated their time to serve our staff.  This is a prime example of the close family at Bristol Aggie. We truly appreciate our PTO and appreciate your support of our staff.  THANK YOU

In the Classroom:
  • MCAS Bootcamp: Students working hard with Mr. Higgins at Math MCAS Bootcamp
  • Math: Sidney Palermo putting in extra math time after school with Mrs. Ciolfi

  • Animal Science: On Wednesday, Ms. Gagne took her large animal science students on a field trip to the Providence Mounted Command stable.  Students learned what it takes for the horses, as well as the officers, to be part of the mounted command unit.

Flori:
Flori students have had a busy week! Students worked on 24 arrangements for the FFA banquet, a small party and prom centerpieces. Students also worked on their personal prom flowers creating bouquets, corsages and boutineers!

Landscape:
This week Sophomore Landscape students worked on installing new plantings along Center Street.
  • ELA: Here is Mrs. Noel's junior English class working on a 3-2-1 worksheet. The students pick a  New York Times Upfront  magazine article (cite the source using MLA format) and then fill out a chart with 3 things they discovered, 2 interesting things, and 1 question they still have. Articles cover many different topics which help our students keep up with current events. The junior class keeps mornings interesting and makes any small worksheet such as this a fun activity.  ( by Bridget Peacock, Class of 2019)
Juniors, Jacquelyn Lema and Lily Berube cheerfully choose their article.
Mrs. Noel’s juniors find a balance between excellent task focus (reading and analyzing informational text) and classroom camaraderie.

Student Services:
25% of the 10th Grade Class participated in the MCAS Computer-Based Testing - Field Test.  Thank you to all the students for participating and trying their best!
