Aggie Weekly
Good Afternoon Students, Parents, and Community Members:
This week our students started their second week of school after the long four day weekend. Our students hit the ground running on Tuesday and were in the groove like it was the middle of the year. The building project continues across the street and we want to thank everyone for their patience during construction for the next 30 months. See below for the weekly update.
Donation Dress Down: Each Friday, our staff donates money to a cause that is in need of support. Sometimes it is our local families who need some help, and sometimes it is a national effort. Many of us have seen the effects of Hurricane Dorrian as it hit Florida and the Carolinas. The month of September we will be dressing down to donate to the Red Cross to help those efforts.DONATE NOW #BAPride
DISASTER UPDATE: Hurricane Dorian
Patrick and Geraldine Riley at an evacuation shelter in Florida to escape the torrential rainfall of Hurricane Dorian.
Hurricane Dorian carved a path of devastation in the Bahamas, leaving behind catastrophic damage and affecting an estimated 76,000 people and more than 13,000 homes.
As the storm continues to move along the U.S. coast, pummeling communities with high storm surge, rain, and tornado threats, the American Red Cross is there to provide food, shelter, comfort, and hope.
If you or a loved one are in harm’s way, here is how to get help.
More than 2,500 Red Cross disaster responders from across the country have worked with kindness and compassion to support people in threatened communities across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. In preparation for this powerful storm, 110 emergency response vehicles and 104 tractor-trailer loads full of relief supplies, including cots, blankets, and 63,000 ready-to-eat meals, were mobilized near evacuation centers and at-risk communities.
Red Cross volunteer Lindsay Stroh teaches about hurricanes through song with 7-year-old Tessiyah at an evacuation center in Orlando, FL.
Florida shelter resident Virginia shares her story with Red Cross volunteer Bob Wallace.
As Hurricane Dorian continues to forge ahead, so too will our dedicated Red Cross disaster responders. These trained volunteers and staff were on the ground providing aid before the storm arrived and will continue to do so in the days, weeks, and months ahead.
Our team's ability to meet the needs of those suffering depends on you and your generous support – please donate now to support Hurricane Dorian relief efforts. If you've already made your gift, thank you on behalf of all of us at the Red Cross.
Donors like you bring the humanitarian spirit of the Red Cross to life and ensure we can be there with helping hands and open hearts for those facing their darkest hours.
With gratitude,
Trevor Riggen
Senior Vice President, Disaster Cycle Services
