Aggie Weekly-May 6th

Good Afternoon Students, Parents, and Community Members:

This week’s HIGH 5 CLUB Senior of Week-KYLIE SMITH

Today’s ribbon cutting ceremony marked the commencement of our future and the figurative next chapter. We are looking forward to writing the next 100 years of history!

While the ribbon cutting ceremony was taking place on the south campus, students grade 10-12 were in major for the day, while most freshman were involved in workshops such as organization and planning. #BAPride

Saturday, May 7th: We are kicking off Saturday with a public Ribbon Cutting ceremony of Gilbert Hall at the Main Entrance at 9:30 am.  A tent will be erected on Thursday for the event on Saturday (due to the forecasted weather on Saturday), so the circle in front of the main office will be closed to traffic (see graphic below).  Since the inception of the Spring Expo, one of the goals was to sell products that we have grown on campus and therefore we are selling plants and flowers for Mother’s Day weekend.  In addition, you will be able to take a self guided tour (see scavenger hunt below) to view our new facilities.  Please understand that we are still under construction and are in the process of making our campus whole again.  Our Landscape Design and Contracting students have done an excellent job at beautifying our campus in the last couple of weeks, however, there is still work to be done inside and outside.  Many of the hallways are still blank as they continue to patch walls with fresh paint.  We will continue to decorate and should be in a better place for our Fall Show in October.

Our objective this weekend is to welcome our community back onto our campus after two years of renovation and expansion, in addition to the pandemic. This is not our Fall Show with lively exhibits, but we will have students on campus in shop areas that can help answer questions as well as demonstrations.  Additionally, the PTO will be on sight selling apparel from 8:00-3:00.  Come out and purchase plants and flowers for Mother’s Day! As always we appreciate the support and we hope to see you Saturday, rain or shine!

Sincerely,

Kevin P. Braga

Bristol County Agricultural High School to Honor the School Lunch Heroes Serving Healthy Meals

Celebrating School Lunch Hero Day on May 6, 2022

Dighton MA – Between preparing healthy food, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, BCAHS nutrition professionals have a lot on their plate. To celebrate their hard work and commitment, BCAHS will celebrate School Lunch Hero Day on May 6. This day, celebrated annually since 2013, was designated by The School Nutrition Association and Jarrett Krosoczka, author of the “Lunch Lady” graphic novel series.  School Lunch Hero Day provides an opportunity for parents, students, school staff and communities to thank those who provide healthy meals to nearly 30 million of America’s students each school day.

Across all school districts, school nutrition professionals will be honored and recognized from students, school staff, parents, and the community.

“School nutrition employees must balance many roles and follow numerous federal, state and local regulations to ensure safe and healthy meals are available in schools. School Lunch Hero Day provides the opportunity for the community to thank these hardworking heroes”  said Derek Costa, School Business Manager.  Federal nutrition standards ensure that school cafeterias always offer low-fat or fat-free milk, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein.  School meals also meet limits on calories, sodium and unhealthy fats.

The importance and nutritional value of school meals are well documented. For many children, school lunch is the most important and nutrient-rich meal of their day. We are very proud that our team has worked so hard to produce 400 plus meals daily that focus on a “home cooked meal”, providing students with healthy options and great nutritional values.

We wish to thank, Christine, Jay, Olga, Rosie, Sue and Tracey for their hard work and dedication

You are all our Heroes each day!
