Aggie Weekly

Good Afternoon Students, Parents, and Community Members:
This week our students completed their third quarter.  For freshman students, last day to make up assignments will be Monday.  Upperclassman will have until Wednesday. With only one quarter left in the school year, we want to encourage our students to stay focused on finish the year strong.

Next Phase for Seniors:  We are proud to share with you our senior’s plans for their next step in their college and career exploration.  Based on the knowledge and skills, learned during their 4 years at BA, we are excited to publish acceptances into colleges, universities, military plans, and any career pathways each week.  Please let Ms. Dias know in Student Services so we can update our list weekly. Thank you for your dedication to excellence and drive to maintain Bristol Aggie Excellence.

In the Classroom:
Animal Science: The Animal Science Department was chosen as the filming site for this years NFL Fuel Up To Play 60 campaign. Patriots special team star Nate Ebner and NFL Play60 student ambassadors from each of the New England states visited the farm this past summer. Here is one of the latest videos released from the filming. Click here to view the commercial.

Floriculture: The junior Flori class learned about rangoli floral designs in class this week. The purpose of rangoli designs is thought to bring good luck in Indian celebrations.

Senior Flori students learned about Ikebana design and created haiku poems that reflected their designs.
Blaze Abren created the following Ikebana design and haiku
    Sometimes what we want
Is not always what we need
    Just let these things be

Sydney Hussey created the following Ikebana design and haiku
    Stairway to heaven
Glows with white light clear and clean
    It leads me home

Hannah Cahill created the following Ikebana design and Haiku
    Flowers bloom in spring
Warm weather will bring you joy
    Summer is coming

Flori junior Madison Medeiros created a bubble bowl design using ranunculus and ixea flowers grown in the greenhouse.

Physics: Senior physics students in Mr. Surdi’s class built this see-saw to learn about simple machines.

Introduction to Agriculture: This week in Introduction to Agriculture class, Mrs. Noel’s freshman students capitalized upon our new large interactive LED display monitor. Students enthusiastically facilitated an introductory discussion about cheese production using the monitor.

Later, Mrs. Boudreau utilized the display monitor to present a financial literacy unit for the freshman. Students learned the fundamentals about financial aspects such as paycheck withholdings, taxes, banking, budgeting, credit, and goal setting.  The monitor presents excellent opportunities for students to engage in these lessons.

Be sure to plan to attend our May 8 meeting so you can vote and have your voice heard!
Looking forward to seeing you at our meetings.
Thanks,

Activities and Athletics:
National Honors Society: This year for NHS’s charitable donation the National Honor Society has decided to run a sock drive. We have partnered with Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program and their "Boston Sox for Socks" campaign to collect packages of new white socks! There will be collection boxes around campus (on every floor of the main building and floriculture) and we will be mailing or delivering the socks directly to the shelter. The drive will hopefully run for around 2 weeks!

With the cold and rainy months moving along, the homeless community need help to stay warm and dry. If everyone in our school were to donate one package, that’d be over 400 pairs of socks for a veteran, child, or anyone struggling to find shelter.

If you can, please help us make a difference by skipping a coffee one morning and purchasing a package of socks! Attached is a link to the BHCHP promotional video for the sock campaign as well as their website if anyone is curious on how else they can help.
