Aggie Weekly- October 23rd

Good Afternoon Students, Parents, and Community Members:

We hope you had a great week this week. We are continuing to monitor our progress in our Fall Reentry Plan and will have another Virtual Town Hall next Thursday (see details below) to use as a forum to hear from students and parents about how we can improve moving forward.

Nurse Update: The following letter was sent to families on Thursday:

It is my sincere hope that this letter finds you well.  I write to inform you to update you regarding our school nurse.  Ms. Courville resigned on October 5th and accepted another position.  Ms. Courville was able to transition with our substitute nurse, Ms. Anderson who is a certified RN (BSN).  Ms. Anderson will be our nurse until further notice while we prepare and conduct a thorough search for a qualified candidate.   Our procedure to contact the school nurse will remain the same.  You can contact Ms. Anderson at EAnderson@bcahs.com (or subnurse@bcahs.com) if your child is sick or displaying any symptoms of COVID-19.  If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Join GSA to watch Corpse Bride together on Wednesday October 28! (Virtually, of course.)

PTO Update: The Bristol Aggie Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is inviting you to our November meeting.  The PTO’s activities enrich Bristol County Agricultural High School’s strong academic and vocational/technical programs. Please come join us virtually to meet new families or come join us to have an impact on what the PTO does next year!

On the high school’s website, Parent Resources page, you can find the Bristol Aggie PTO and apparel links.  Please check us out https://sites.google.com/bcahs.com/bristol-aggie-pto/home

In the Classroom

  • Mr. Surdi’s A&P class took full advantage of the beautiful weather on Thursday and held class under the tent.

Math: Mr. McKee integrating technology and fun into a math review today in the library.

ELA: Our teachers today - from the eyes of a student.   Although times are very different, some things are timeless - like a teacher reading to her class.  A student drew this portrait of her teacher.

Picture Day on Monday and Tuesday

Parent Teacher Conferences: Conferences are now open for scheduling.  See directions below

The Parent-Portal is now open for signups.  We sent out an email on Wednesday (see previous email) informing you of our new process.  We had originally scheduled Parent-Teacher Conferences for Thursday, October 15th (yesterday), but due to the pandemic, we had to delay the event in order to create a safe way for us to meet virtually.  The new date for Parent-Teacher Conferences will be Thursday, October 29th from 6:00-8:00 pm.  In order to sign up for a conference this year, it will be different from what we used the last few years.  Scheduling a conference remotely is a new venture for us, but we wanted to keep this avenue of communication open for parents and teachers. Each virtual conference will still be 8 minutes in duration.   Parents will need to sign up with their child’s teachers using Google Classroom & Google Calendar.  Please take note this is not a PowerSchool parent portal for grades. You will need to conduct this process using your child’s bcahs.com email address and logging into your child’s Google Classroom for each teacherIf you have any questions, please let me know (KBraga@bcahs.com).

Here are the directions to sign up for parent teacher conferences:

1) Have your child login to each teacher’s Google Classroom.  You will be able to find the link to register for Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 29th from 6:00-8:00 pm. The link will be in the stream in Google Classroom

2) Once you click on the link in the stream, you will be brought to the teacher’s calendar where you will be able to see only the available time slots available. Once you click on the time slot, it will register the name associated with the email address.  Add your name to the description box to help with identification.

3) Once you make an appointment, you will receive a confirmation window box (see below).  Please repeat for each teacher by logging into their Google Classroom.

Unfortunately, we are not able to fulfill all requests in one meeting.  We will be hosting another Parent-Teacher conference which will be determined at a later date.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me (KBraga@bcahs.com).

Outdoor Dining: We are preparing for the fall/winter weather so we installed the heaters this week.  We will load the tents with heat in the morning so when students go to dine it will be warm to eat outside.  We continue to find ways to think outside of the box and adapt to our current circumstances.
