September 8th Aggie Weekly

Aggie Weekly
Good Afternoon Students, Parents, and Community Members:
We welcomed in the first week of school with success! It has been great seeing our students filling the hallways and the school buzz is back!  We want to encourage parents and students to follow our blog to stay informed on the Bristol Aggie happenings (see instructions below).

Stay Connected! Stay Informed!
We have instituted an additional means of communication through the Bristol Aggie Blog.  This blog allows students, parents, staff, and community members to stay informed of what is happening at Bristol Aggie.  You can sign up for daily emails to ensure you don’t miss anything! You can also view the calendar feature which lists all the events that are happening at BA daily.  Since we launched last week, nearly 200 accounts are receiving an update from the blog! Please do not hesitate to reach out to Mr. Braga (KBraga@bcahs.com).

Bristol Aggie’s Hurricane Disaster Relief Project:
While the state of Texas continues to clean up after Hurricane Harvey the east coast is preparing for Hurricane Irma, which is the largest hurricane ever recorded in the coming days.

Bristol Aggie has always stepped up and helped community members who are in need. Now is our chance to make a difference on a national level. The Animal Science Department will be teaming up with Operation Bullpen (with Curt Schilling) to help people in need.  We will be establishing a donation center and are looking for donations of animal feed and supplies to be delivered to Texas, Florida, or any other areas that have animals in need from these devastating hurricanes. Next week we will be collecting bags and cases of animal feed, new and gently used supplies that can assist in rescue efforts.  Although our first priority will be to collect animal supplies we will also be taking supplies for people as well.  Requested items include warm weather clothes, food, diapers, wipes, formula, etc.  A complete list is listed below.

OUR GOAL: We would like to fill an 18 wheeler truck full of supplies to help the people in need.  These supplies will be driven down to hurricane devastated areas and put directly in the hands of people and shelters that need them.  Our first truck will be leaving campus on Monday, September 18th.  We have access to as many trucks as we can fill.  We are hoping to make this a large scale effort in a short amount of time, please help us by donating and spreading the word!

Thank You! From Freshman Academy Advisors Mr. Caswell and Mrs. VanRotz
This year we had 37 students volunteered time during their summer vacation to come to school and help during the New Student Orientation. The purpose of this event is to work with the new students and their parents to help make their transition to the Bristol Aggie Family as smooth and worry free as possible. This event was created, in part, as a result of my own experience as a new Bristol Aggie student over 20 years ago; I remember my first day and how lost, confused and nervous I was and I hope that this program can alleviate at least some of that stress.
It says a lot about these young men and women that they took time from their coveted summer vacation to make our newest members feel welcome and safe. I want to take this opportunity to publicly acknowledge their efforts on behalf of the Bristol Aggie Community.
Thank you, we are proud of you.

Student/Parent Information Packet:
Attention Students & Parents:
First we would like to welcome back all of our students to the 2017-2018 school year!  All upperclassmen and freshmen (who did not attend orientation) were handed out the Beginning of the Year Information Packet during first period.  Below is the packet of information.  This year is a little different than in year's past since we are trying to cut down on the amount of paper sent home.  We asked that you return the information that was sent home today along with the sheet that acknowledges that you "abide by the rules and regulations set forth" in the packet.  Please return all forms to the office as soon as possible.

Below is what was sent.  Take notice that you will have the ability to click the hyperlinks (blue lettering underlined) to get the information to review, so you can sign the acknowledgment form (2nd page).  An email was sent home from Ms. DeSa as well.  If you have any questions, please contact the main office.

Dear Parents and Students:
As always, when you start a new school year, it will be important for you to develop and cultivate regular habits of study. You must strive to do your best work at all times in order to achieve the benefits of a solid education. Set your goals and consider your education a very personal accomplishment. A reminder to the Freshmen class:  A very high percentage of our students are placed in either their first or second choice of sophomore vocational majors.  Grades are a significant factor in this wonderful outcome which is only possible as a result of the focus, effort, and dedication of students in their prior year’s freshmen class.
In our school of excellence a positive attitude is the best "tool" to bring with you this fall.
We look forward to welcoming each and every one of you back to school and wish you all a successful and fulfilling year at Bristol Aggie.

Please read through the entire packet and follow the instructions that apply to you.
Enclosed you will find materials relating to your son or daughter's enrollment for the 2017-2018 school year at Bristol County Agricultural High School.
It is important that you complete all required forms and return them to the Main office: Your child will NOT be permitted to participate in any extracurricular activities until forms are completed and returned.
