Good Afternoon Students, Parents, and Community Members:
We announced on Wednesday that starting on Monday, May 10th, we will be going to school 5 days a week. Starting that week, late busses will be running Monday through Friday and will pick up at 5:00 pm. As we approach the end of the school year, we want to remind students that the strong finish to the end of the school year is a great way to rest and relax over summer break. Keep up the great work. Thank you
Check out this week’s bristol babble: We have a couple new guests on this week’s episode. Keep up the great work!
Update on Quarantine Guidance for Close Contacts
Good Afternoon Bristol Aggie Community,
As we continue to progress through this atypical school year, we continue to be committed to providing you with updated information that impacts how we manage school operations. Last week, we received updated guidance that was approved by the Executive Office of Health and Human Services after consultation with the Governor’s Medical Advisory Board on COVID-19 and other medical advisors.
Close contacts who were exposed to a COVID-19 positive individual in the classroom or on the bus while both individuals were masked do not have to quarantine unless they were within 3 feet of distance of the COVID-19 positive individual for a total of 15 minutes during a 24-hour period. This does not apply if someone was identified as a close contact outside of the classroom or bus (e.g., in sports, extra-curriculars, lunch, etc.) or if masks are not worn by both persons at the time of the exposure. All other close contacts must follow the standard protocol for when a close contact may return to school.
The full guidance is posted on the COVID-19 guidance page and available for download.
Since all of our desks in all classrooms are at minimum of 3 feet, students will no longer have to quarantine for being a close contact in most classroom settings. However, we will continue to contact families if students were working in groups within 3 feet for a minimum of 15 minutes. In addition, a close contact is still 6 feet in the cafeteria (since students will not have masks on for eating).
As we have stated since the first day of school, our primary responsibility is to keep our students and staff safe by following updated guidance and our comprehensive plan to regularly sanitize the school and to follow all health and safety protocols set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Our student body and staff have been adhering to the safety protocols including mask wearing, hand washing, and physical distancing. We are grateful to our families for their continued efforts to keep students home who are showing any symptoms. These measures, taken in combination, greatly reduce the risk of additional transmission. We ask that parents/guardians whose child is tested for COVID-19, please report the results to our school nurse.
The single most important thing to do if any of the following symptoms are present in your child is to keep them home. Our collective health relies, in part, on individual attention and responsibility. Note that some symptoms of COVID-19 are the same as the flu or a bad cold; please do not assume it is another condition. When in doubt, keep your child home if they have any of the following symptoms and communicate with our school nurse at 508-669-6744 extension 1222.
Fever (100.40 Fahrenheit or higher) chills, or shaking chills
Cough (not due to other known cause, such as chronic cough)
Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Headache when in combination with other symptoms
Muscle aches or body aches
Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
Fatigue, when in combination with other symptoms
Nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to other known causes, such as allergies) when in combination with other symptoms
For more information on COVID-19 symptoms, testing and testing sites, visit: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/aboutcovid- 19-testing#where-can-get-a-test?-.Please contact us immediately should your child or someone in your home begin to show symptoms.
Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me (KBraga@bcahs.com).
Sincerely,
Kevin P. Braga

Dear Parents/Guardians for the Class of 2023:

ELA MCAS: May 3rd&4th, make up date of May 6th
Mathematics: MCAS:May 17th&18th, make up date of May 20th
All tenth graders will be participating in this testing. Any students who are absent for a testing session will be required to take the missed test during a make-up session. Students should plan to complete make-up testing on the following:
Make-Up ELA: May 6th
Make-Up Math: May 20th
The MCAS 2021 test results will be used to determine student eligibility for a high school diploma. Students who are members of the graduating Class of 2023 are required to pass the Grade 10 MCAS English Language Arts test, and the MCAS Mathematics test, as well as meeting all local graduation requirements in order to receive a high school diploma. Therefore, it is to his/her/their benefit to perform the best he/she/they can on these tests. The John and Abigail Adams Scholarship and Stanley Z. Koplik Certificate of Mastery are given to high school students who perform exceptionally well on each of the MCAS exams and would give the students the opportunity for reduced tuition at a Massachusetts state college or university.
We strongly encourage consistent attendance during the assigned MCAS testing days, urge your child to eat a nutritious breakfast on the days of testing, and suggest your child gets as much sleep as possible on the nights prior to the tests enabling them to concentrate more effectively, settle down quickly, and be alert maximizing their chances of success. All students on the mornings of testing will be given a complimentary breakfast in the classroom before testing starts. Students should report to their classrooms when arriving at school.
If you have any additional questions and would like to speak with us, please feel free to reach out by email BHiggins@bcahs.com. Thank you for your help and cooperation.

FFA:
This week marked the 91st Massachusetts FFA State Convention. Bristol Aggie was thrilled to be able to host the Massachusetts FFA Association and have them stream some of their sessions live from campus. Although this was a very different convention we are glad that we were able to celebrate the year and the successes of our students!
Congratulations to all of the Career and Leadership Development Event & Awards Winners! It was not a traditional CDE & LDE season but we did it! Click the image below for the results video!!!
Congratulations to the Floriculture team for qualifying for the NATIONAL CDE!
Arbor Jamboree
In the Classroom:
The NRM juniors and seniors had a great afternoon Monday April 26th with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation Wildlands Firefighter crew from Freetown/Fall River State Forest. They discussed the structure of their department, the nature of the work (including those that are not putting out fires), fire behavior, prescribed burning, and the fun and less fun aspects of the job. The students were able to try some of the equipment and the day ended with a spirited junior vs seniors fire line digging contest.
We really appreciate the @massdcr crew for a fun afternoon that introduced our upperclassmen to a suite of NRM careers.

Bristol Aggie to Honor the School Lunch Heroes Serving Healthy Meals
Celebrating School Lunch Hero Day on May 7, 2021
Between preparing healthy food, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, Bristol Aggie nutrition professionals have a lot on their plate. To celebrate their hard work and commitment, Bristol Aggie will celebrate School Lunch Hero Day on May 7. School Lunch Hero Day provides an opportunity for parents, students, school staff and communities to thank those who provide healthy meals to nearly 30 million of America’s students each school day.
All across the school, school nutrition professionals will be honored and recognized from students, school staff, parents, and the community.
School nutrition employees must balance many roles and follow numerous federal, state and local regulations to ensure safe and healthy meals are available in schools. School Lunch Hero Day provides the opportunity for the community to thank these hardworking heroes. Federal nutrition standards ensure that school cafeterias always offer low-fat or fat-free milk, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein. School meals also meet limits on calories, sodium and unhealthy fats.
The importance and nutritional value of school meals are well documented. For many children, school lunch is the most important and nutrient-rich meal of their day.
We wanted to create an online Student Job posting to help you get started. Please click the link(s) below to view the job posting(s).

Youth Works: Taunton Area School to Career (TASC) runs the local summer YouthWorks program in conjunction with MassHire Bristol Workforce Board. YouthWorks is a subsidized jobs program for youth and young adults ages 14-21 who are low income, and face barriers to employment. This could mean they have previous or current court involvement, are in foster care, live in a single parent household, have an IEP, medical diagnosis, etc. This is the first year we are also able to serve youth who reside in Raynham, Berkley and Dighton, in addition to serving youth in Taunton.
Student Services
As we are all aware, this has been a challenging year for all of us-especially our students. This article will give you some ideas on how to assist your student if they are experiencing anxiety and provide some tips on how to brainstorm with your teen and start the conversation with them.
On-Site Admissions
We will be hosting one more On-Site Admissions event for Bristol Community College on Monday, May 10th from 8:30-1:45. This is an opportunity for students who have not yet applied to Bristol Community College but would like to. Once you fill out the Google form below you must fill out the attached application form and the student records release request form and give to Ms. Kochan to hold onto. On-Site Admissions allows you to meet with an admissions counselor virtually and have them review your application to Bristol Community College. Once they are done they will send you an acceptance letter on the spot! This takes less than 15 minutes and requires nothing but the completed application and student records release form from you. If you have already applied to BCC then you cannot participate in the On-Site Admissions.
There is NO fee to participate in the On-Site Admissions so disregard the application fee on the application form.
Steps to participate in On-Site Admissions:
1. Sign Up Here
2. Print out and complete BCC Application
3. Fill out Records Release Form (*if you are 18 or older you do not need a parent signature on the Application or Records Release Request Form)
4. Return BCC Application to Ms. Kochan in Student Services
5. Wait for the email to confirm appointment time (we will email students by 5/7)
UPCOMING SPRING SPORTS:
Any student who may wish to participate in Spring sports please return up to date physicals and immunization records to Ms. Anderson, our school nurse. Her office is located on the main floor in the CSE building room # 2111. All physicals must be current to participate. If you have any question please contact Ms. Anderson at Ext 2111 or by email: eanderson@bcahs.com
